Fish Friendly Farming
Colinas Farming Company is excited and proud to have secured third party sustainable certifications for best management practices from the California Land Stewardship Institute. The certification, known as “Fish Friendly Farming” provides the public and consumers with an independent third party verification that the farming practices performed by Colinas Farming Company on the properties we manage, in the words of the Institute, “assures the consumer that the wines and farm products they purchase are produced by protecting and restoring the environment and by sustaining the beauty and natural habitats of California.”
Colinas Farming Company is keenly aware that the unique wine grapes and olives we farm are produced in environmentally sensitive areas along the Napa River riparian corridor. The current certifications are for six properties comprising more than 650 acres. These certifications, along with our commitment and participation in the Rutherford River Restoration efforts, contribute to local as well as regional water quality improvements, as well as general environmental sustainability.
The certifications were issued by the following agencies who are working together in the successful implementation of Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs):
- United States Department of Commerce - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- California Regional Water Quality Control Board
- California Land Stewardship Institute
- Napa County Agricultural Commissioner / Sealer of Weights and Measures
